Bayern Munich clinched the Bundesliga title after Borussia Dortmund stumbled in their final match.

In a thrilling encounter, Jamal Musiala scored a decisive goal in the 89th minute, leading Bayern Munich to a 2-1 victory over Cologne. Dortmund, who held a two-point lead before the last round, could only manage a 2-2 draw against Mainz, allowing Bayern to secure the top spot due to their superior goal difference.

The Dortmund team needed a win to end Bayern's 10-year reign as champions. Following their triumph, Bayern made headlines by announcing the dismissals of chief executive Oliver Kahn and sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić. The decision to fire Julian Nagelsmann as coach in March and replace him with Thomas Tuchel just before the team's exits from the Champions League and German Cup had drawn scrutiny.

Tuchel, acknowledging the shortcomings of the season, stated that even winning the Bundesliga title would not overshadow the overall dissatisfaction with Bayern Munich's performance. Kahn, in response to his firing, took to Twitter to congratulate the team and expressed his desire to celebrate with the players, albeit being unable to join them due to not being allowed.

Securing the title on the final day of the season marked the third time Bayern accomplished such a feat, previously achieving it in 1986 against Werder Bremen and in 2000 against Bayer Leverkusen. Despite acknowledging the chaotic nature of their second half of the season, both on and off the field, Bayern veteran Thomas Müller expressed the overwhelming joy and disbelief within the team.

As Bayern celebrated their triumph, Dortmund fans experienced a rollercoaster of emotions. When Cologne's Dejan Ljubicic converted a penalty in the 81st minute against Bayern, Dortmund fans believed their team's chances had improved. However, Jamal Musiala, substituted in four minutes later, shattered their hopes by scoring the winning goal four minutes after entering the pitch, securing the title for Bayern Munich.

In other Bundesliga matches, Union Berlin claimed a spot in the Champions League with a late winner from Rani Khedira against Werder Bremen, securing a 1-0 victory. Union Berlin finished fourth, ahead of Freiburg, who suffered a 2-1 defeat against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Schalke faced relegation following a 4-2 loss against Leipzig, while Stuttgart will contest the relegation/promotion playoff against the third-placed team from the second division after drawing 1-1 with Hoffenheim. Bochum ensured their survival with a convincing 3-0 victory over 10-man Bayer Leverkusen.

Additionally, Borussia Mönchengladbach emerged triumphant with a 2-0 win against Augsburg in Lars Stindl's final game for the club, and Hertha Berlin, already relegated, enjoyed a 2-1 victory at Wolfsburg.
