Rajinikanth's 'Jailer' Audio Launch: Superstar Talks Film Choices and Alcoholism

In a grand event at Nehru Indoor Stadium, the audio launch of Rajinikanth and director Nelson's much-awaited film 'Jailer' took place on Friday. The star-studded occasion witnessed the presence of enthusiastic fans alongside the film's cast and crew, including Tamannaah, Shiva Rajkumar, Jackie Shroff, Ramya Krishnan, music director Anirudh, and producer Kalanithi Maran of Sun Pictures.

During the launch, Rajinikanth shared insights into his film choices after 'Annaatthe,' revealing that he rejected several scripts due to their similarity to his previous iconic movies, 'Baasha' and 'Annamalai.' He also addressed the online abuse faced by director Nelson after the release of 'Beast.' Despite pressure from distributors to change directors, Rajinikanth stood firm on working with Nelson for 'Jailer.'

The legendary actor candidly spoke about his past struggle with alcoholism, deeming it as the biggest mistake of his life. He urged his fans to refrain from regular drinking, emphasizing its detrimental impact on health and happiness.

Interestingly, Rajinikanth expressed his discomfort with the 'superstar' tag, particularly in reference to the song 'Hukum' from the film. He requested the makers to remove the tag from the video, as it has always been a sensitive matter for him.

Producer Kalanithi Maran showered praise on Rajinikanth, comparing him to the late DMK leader Karunanidhi, highlighting that multiple generations have been ardent fans of the iconic actor. He credited Rajinikanth as a record maker and hailed him as the only Superstar of Indian cinema. Maran revealed that producers are eager to collaborate with the 72-year-old actor, solidifying his unmatched status in the industry.

Adding to the entertainment quotient, music director Anirudh enthralled the audience with captivating performances of the film's songs, while Tamannaah set the stage on fire with a mesmerizing dance to the viral track 'Kaavaalaa.'

Set to hit the screens on August 10, 'Jailer' boasts an ensemble cast, featuring the likes of Mohanlal, Sunil, Mirnaa Menon, Vasanth Ravi, and Yogi Babu. The film's release has already generated tremendous anticipation among fans and cinephiles alike.
